PRIHAL by Andra Matin explores the combination of material, pattern, and craftsmanship through a continuous 60-meter installation. BYO Living developed a customizable handmade galvanized metal weaving system, combined with a Kalimantan natural rattan pattern developed in collaboration with Andra Matin.

The Challenges
The challenge was to translate the character of a natural rattan pattern into galvanized metal while maintaining its visual rhythm and consistency across a 60-meter installation. The system also needed to accommodate customization while preserving the handmade quality of the weaving.
A layered geometric weaving pattern combining fine linear grids with wider horizontal bands, creating rhythm, depth, and variation across the surface.
The Solutions
BYO Living’s R&D team developed and refined a handmade metal weaving process that allows the pattern to be adapted across the installation. The galvanized metal provides a more structured expression of the weaving, while the Kalimantan rattan pattern maintains its connection to Indonesian craftsmanship and material heritage.
