Capri by Fraser
Penang
Capri by Fraser Penang brings together contemporary hospitality with references to the city’s rich cultural and craft heritage. Within the guestrooms, BYO Living contributed custom weaving panels that introduce colour, texture, and craftsmanship into the interior. Combining terracotta and soft mint tones, the weaving transforms a traditional making technique into a bold graphic element that complements the hotel’s playful contemporary character.

The Challenges
The weaving needed to translate a graphic composition into a handcrafted surface while maintaining continuity across multiple framed panels. Different weaving directions, densities, colours, and curved forms had to work together as one composition without losing the lightness and transparency of the screen.
A customized graphic weaving pattern composed through shifts in direction, density, and colour. Horizontal and vertical weaving structures intersect with curved geometric fields, while contrasting terracotta and mint tones create visual depth across the surface. The varying densities allow the pattern to move between open and enclosed areas, turning the woven screen into a layered graphic composition.

The Solutions
BYO Living developed a customized weaving system that combines horizontal and vertical structures with contrasting areas of open and dense weaving. Changes in colour and density create overlapping geometric forms across the panels, allowing the weaving itself to define the graphic composition. The result is a tactile feature screen that brings together craftsmanship, colour, and contemporary spatial expression.
