QSF (Quartindo) Booth IFEX 2019

Designed for QSF’s debut at IFEX 2019, the 160m² exhibition space by Eva Natasa Studio and Aldo Felix Studio explores the contrast between hard and soft geometries, natural and engineered materials, and raw and refined finishes. Javanese teak, Borneo rattan, Balinese red brick, and polypropylene yarn are brought together to create a cohesive spatial composition that reflects Indonesia’s material richness and craftsmanship.

The challenge was to bring together materials with different characteristics while maintaining a cohesive visual language throughout the exhibition space. The woven panels needed to balance the natural character of rattan with the more engineered quality of polypropylene yarn, while complementing the custom teak elements and other raw materials used across the space.
Setiap panel berawal dari helai rotan mentah yang dicelup, dikeringkan, dan dijajarkan tangan oleh perajin sebelum kerangka anyaman ditarik di atas alat tenun.
Solusi
BYO Living developed the natural rattan weaving for the exhibition panels, combining rattan and polypropylene yarn to create a distinct contrast in texture and material expression. The weaving was integrated with the custom wooden elements and raw material palette, allowing each material to retain its character while contributing to the overall spatial composition.
